Switch Over to x64
In accordance with discussions between your management and DSM we are transitioning you to the new 64bit VDI. All of your files on the desktop within VDI will be transferred over as well. The interface for VDI will remain the same and you should notice an improvement in performance as well. Tomorrow when you go to log on to VDI please do the following:
1. Double-click the VMware View Client on the desktop
2. Ensure “vdi.dsmhosting.net” is typed in the Connection Server field and click Connect
3. Type in the user name and password and click Login
4. The next screen will display the VDI pool selection, select the 2nd pool from the list (It should have x64 in the title) and click Connect
5. Step 4 will only need to be done once, after you have selected the 2nd pool it will remain as your default selection the next time you login to VDI
If you don’t see the VDI pool selection screen and instead are automatically logged into VDI after clicking Login in step 3 please do the following
1. Exit or Logout of VDI
2. Double-click the VMware View Client on the desktop
3. Ensure “vdi.dsmhosting.net” is typed in the Connection Server field and click Connect
4. Type in the user name and password and click Login
5. Right after you have clicked Login button immediately click the Cancel button. This will present you with the VDI pool selection screen.
6. Select the 2nd pool from the list (It should have x64 in the title) and click Connect

Configure Printer Sharing from Mac to VDI
New Way:
1. Install Horizon View Client on Mac
2. Install Microsoft RDP client on Mac
3. Then you can launch Horizon View Client and switch to RDP protocol from PCoIP protocol
Old Way To make printer redirection work on a Mac using the VMware View client, two things need to happen:
First, you need to install the HP LaserJet 4350 PS driver (not the universal driver) on the Windows VMs being used by VMware View.
Second, you need to edit the vmware-view.rdp file to enable printer redirection.
I’ll leave the first task as an exercise for the readers, but for the second task I’ll provide a bit more detail. To enable printer redirection, edit the vmware-view.rdp file and add these lines: <key>PrinterRedirection</key> <true/> <key>RedirectPrinter</key> <string>all</string> Once you have the LaserJet 4350 PS printer driver installed on the Windows VM and have this text in the vmware-view.rdp file, printer redirection from the Mac VMware View client should work as expected. Keep in mind the caveat that I pointed out in the original article: changing thevmware-view.rdp file will affect all connections using the VMware View client, not just one particular connection. It would be great to be able to enable/disable this sort of functionality on a per-connection/per-server basis.
